A family who were left devastated by their dad’s hidden gambling addiction and went onto tackle the UK’s gambling legislation have been hounded by trolls for their efforts to cut down advertising and the use of fixed odds betting terminals.
Adam Bradford, 25, and his family knew nothing about their dad, David’s gambling addiction which saw him rack up a huge £600,000 debt, after endless online betting, fixed terminal betting and even remortgaging their family home to keep up with his habit.
David, 61, from Mosborough, Sheffield, received a two-year prison sentence back in April 2014, after it was discovered that he had taken £53,000 from the company finances to fund this crippling habit.
Since then Adam and his father have been campaigning to change government law which currently means that anyone can put up to £100 every 20 seconds into a fixed-odds betting terminal as well as tackling persistent advertising by companies to lew in new betters.
